The Formula Renault 3.5 Series has been lit up by Red Bull Racing Show Runs this year, from Sébastien Buemi pounding out laps at a packed Hungaroring to French Grand Prix great Alain Prost thrilling his home crowd at Paul Ricard and the series’ finale will be no exception with a true racing legend, Damon Hill, set to drive in Barcelona this coming weekend.

The 1996 Formula One World Champion will be on hand on Sunday at the Circuit de Catalunya to drive the 2010 championship-winning RB6, taking over from Buemi, who’ll be at the wheel on Saturday.

Damon’s run in the RB6 will be a welcome return to Renault-powered machinery, the Englishman having scored 21 of his 22 grand prix wins in cars housing Renault powerplants.

The Red Bull Racing Show Run is sure to be one of the highlights of a big weekend of racing action at the Circuit de Catalunya. The Formula Renault 3.5 Series title fight is going down to the wire in Barcelona, with a mere five points separating series leader Jules Bianchi and closest rival Robert Frijns. Sam Bird is a further 19 points back and though the British driver is an outside bet he still could take the title if things don’t according to plan for his opponents.

In the team competition, it’s between Tech 1 Racing and Fortec Motorsport, though Red Bull Junior Team driver Antonio Felix da Costa has done a stunning job in his time in the series this season to promote Arden Caterham to third spot. On the basis of his performances so far, the young Portuguese driver is sure to be a major player in next year’s championship.
